Split-Ends
This title comes through conversations between two women artists of color, April D. Felipe & Ling Chun. Hair symbolizes many things to different groups of people. It can be the source of empowerment, a tie to cultural roots, as well as a tie to personal and familial histories. Normally the word “split-ends” describes the condition of damaged hair. Instead of being a sign of damage, we are viewing “split ends” as one pathway splitting into multiple directions, moving into our own way of being - into the journey of healing, repairing, and celebration.
