Shawna Lipton

Shawna Lipton is Academic Director of the Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies and an Associate Professor at the Pacific Northwest College of Art at Willamette University in Portland, Oregon. She received her Ph.D. in Literature and Cultural Theory from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has been an invited scholar at the Time Based Art Festival, and collaborated with the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art on events for World AIDS Day, and the Sex Worker’s Art Show. Shawna produced the short film A Normal Girl, which screened in the American Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019, and won Best Short Documentary at the United Nations Association Film Festival in 2020. Her critical writing has been published in New Cinemas and QED: A Journal in GLBTQ Worldmaking. Her current interests include critical issues surrounding art and technology, and increasing economic opportunities for artists.
