Elizabeth Ensley 1847-1919
An educator and an African-American suffragist, Elizabeth Ensley was instrumental in acquiring the right to vote for women in the state of Colorado. The suffrage amendment was approved in November 1893, making Colorado the second state to grant voting rights to women. She established the Women's League in 1894 to inform black women how to vote, communicate the importance of voting, and communicate the nature of the issues.
Mountain Plover populations have declined by an estimated 3.4% per year between 1968 and 2015. This equates to a cumulative decline of 81% over that period.
