Emma Goldman  1869-1940

A Russian-born anarchist revolutionary, political activist, and writer, Emma Goldman played a pivotal role in the development of anarchist political philosophy in North America and Europe in the first half of the 20th century. She was arrested—along with 249 others—in the so-called Palmer Raids during the First Red Scare and deported to Russia in December 1919.  She left the Soviet Union in 1923, denouncing the Bolshevik suppression of independent voices. After the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, Goldman traveled to Spain to support the anarchist revolution there.

Bobolink populations have declined by about 1.5% per year between 1966 and 2019, resulting in a cumulative decline of approximately 56%. If they continue declining at the present rate, their population will be halved in 45 years.
